European Commission Enterprise and Industry Title of the presentation | Date | ‹#› An example of emerging activities: size of EU Business related to sustainability The business related to sustainability in the EU27 had a turnover of €232 billion (2.2% of GDP) in 2004 and €319 billion (2.5% of GDP) in 2008 (at current prices) The direct-employment of the sector in EU27 is estimated at about 2.8 million and 3.4 million in respectively 2004 and 2008.
