© 2013 IBM Corporation 5 Scenario 1 – initial audit readiness Infrastructure is already installed & configured, scan schedules are defined and executed on the endpoints As Software Asset Manager I am interested in the initial outlook of the sub-capacity license usage –Check whether data is collected from the infrastructure –Review the initial license usage data

Forces peak PVU value recalculation 1. Initially showing data the last 90 days sliding window. Peak values are calculated for the entire sliding window period. 2. Can be filtered for the specified time period (e.g. 1 year period), product & metric type 3. CSV & PDF snapshots are digitally signed Manage Software Bundles

© 2013 IBM Corporation 9 Scenario 2 – periodic license usage review & optimisation Assumptions Periodic inventory scan schedules are already defined Reminders for importing latest SW catalog and PVU table are already in place As Software Asset Manager I need to ensure the license usage for the software matches the license entitlements so that I am continuously prepared for the compliance audit –Review the license usage & trends for the specific period of time –Optimise the bundling relationships –Analyse the updated license usage –Save the reporting period definition for later use –(optionally) create the license usage snapshot for offline review

© 2013 IBM Corporation 14 Scenario 3 – creating a audit report As Software Asset Manager I need to create the yearly audit report to show it to the IBM Compliance / Auditor for proving the license usage over the licensed period –Create the report view for the period of last year –Trigger data recalculation if required –Export the report view for offline storage / sharing with IBM Compliance / Auditors

© 2013 IBM Corporation 16 VM Managers Configuration
17
© 2013 IBM Corporation 17 VM Managers configuration and Audit Log VM Managers – available from Management in SUA menu. We have 2 views for VM Managers. View where VM Managers could be defined, modified, removed or their connection could be tested: –New, Delete – standard table actions – analogic to existing SUA tables –Edit – analogic to existing SUA tables – an item is editable below the table when selected –Test Connection – VM Managers could have 3 possible statuses: connected successfully, pending, connection failed – previously (ILMT 7.x) we had 9 statuses. And view which show archive infomation for VM Managers – VM Managers Audit Log – where data is displayed in read access only. VM Managers configuration is not obligatory – it helps you to optimize licenses utilization to potentially minimize cost.
18
© 2013 IBM Corporation 18 Scenario 1 – configure VM Managers We would like to configure VM Managers: add new VM Managers, remove or edit existing VM Managers and test connection New statuses: Existing ILMT 7.x OK pending connection failed hard-timeout suspended invalid credentials – attempting invalid credentials – suspended incomplete definition duplicated address unknown problem New SUA/ILMT connected successfully pending connection failed
19
© 2013 IBM Corporation 19 VM Managers – New and Edit Users will have the possibility to edit an existing VM Manager. When an item is selected, it is displayed in the editing mode below the table. Users will have the possibility to create a new VM Manager using the „New” button. Possible manager types.
20
© 2013 IBM Corporation 20 VM Managers – Delete Users can delete selected VM Manager. A confirmation message is displayed and you can provide additional comments.
21
© 2013 IBM Corporation 21 VM Managers – Test Connection This is asynchronous action that can take a few minutes. Operation status will be set to Pending until response arrives.
22
© 2013 IBM Corporation 22 Scenario 2 – view VM Managers Audit Log We would like to configure give possibility view VM Managers Audit Log, where each actions are represented together with provided comments.
