2
What is the Endocrine System? The endocrine system is a series of glands across your body responsible for producing hormones that deal with: Growth, Metabolism, and Reproduction, to name a few.
3
What are Hormones? Hormones are these chemicals that send messages that tell organs to do their function. IMPORTANT EXAMPLES: Insulin, Glucagon, Adrenaline, and Cortisone
4
The Glands and Their Functions 1.Thyroid: Produces the Hormone T3 and T4 to regulate the body’s metabolism. 2.Pineal Gland: Produces the hormone melatonin and regulates body clock. 3.Adrenal Glands: Found at the top of the kidneys, makes hormone “adrenaline.” 4.Testes: Produces testosterone, which helps in reproduction.
5
The Glands and Their Functions 5. Pituitary gland: Produces growth hormone to make you grow. 6. Pancreas: Makes the Hormone insulin to control blood sugar. 7. Ovaries: Helps with the reproduction process.
