Alleles Each letter, or allele, codes for a specific trait, such as curly or straight tails. So really in the Tt genotype it is only one of those T’s that makes the reebop have the phenotype of 2 antennae. By looking at your genotype decoder key, which “t” do you think represents the curly tail your big “T” or your small “t”? Your big T! when TT are together they both code for curly tails
10
So then what does the little t code for? Straight tail
11
So why does the Tt code for curly tail???
12
The big letter beats the small letter It is more…. Dominant! Therefore the lowercase letters are called… Recessive!
14
Guess the definition Homozygous- Ex: Genotypes AA, aa, BB, bb, CC, cc When the two alleles are the same When the two alleles are the same Heterozygous- Ex: Genotypes Aa Bb, Cc, Dd, Ee When the two alleles are different

Genotype- The genetic makeup of a trait Phenotype- Your physical characteristics Allele- The different forms of a gene Dominant- Allele that will be expressed if present Recessive- An allele that will be phenotypically expressed only when both copies of the allele are identical Trait- Characteristics (Similar to phenotypes) Homozygous- When the two alleles are the same Heterozygous- When the two alleles are different
