Project Scenario In the current Scenario in the examinations having MCQ pattern of exam there is the use OCR sheets. Handling of the examination papers is thus quite a tedious job. OCR sheets tend to be over-sensitive at times resulting in error in correction due to the slightest errors made by the examinee in encircling the circles. Delay in examination result. Modern trend of Paper Leaks. Off late we have noticed that examinations like the Common Admission Tests i.e. CAT 09 is going to be conducted online. This further highlights the need of an online exam simulator and that too one which is generic enough and of course, free!
3
Project Scenario(contd…) If we use exam simulating software installed on a single machine like a normal program then we would have to do the additional task of encrypting the database, so that the examinee doesn’t opt for unfair means by accessing the question database. When we use a online system, the implementation part is entirely hidden along with the database at the server side. What the examinee can see sitting on the client side is only the presentation layer i.e. HTML / JSP pages where he has to only answer the questions...i.e. there is no chance of the examinee tampering with the database or other parts of the software
4
Project Goals Each examinee should be able to start the test by logging in using his name, registration number and a common password. The examinee will then get a choice of subject on which he/she wants to give his/her exam. The examinee will then have to answer 15 Multiple Choice Questions having 4 possible correct options within a time limit of 15 minutes. The examinee will have the liberty to navigate in between the 15 questions and can also end the test if he /she wishes to do so at any point of time before the timer runs out.
5
Project Goals(contd…) If the timer runs out and the examinee has not answered some questions, they will be counted as un- answered and the exam will end. The examinee will have no access to other external system resources during the course of the exam to aid in any sort of unfair means. The examinee can change the answer to any question he wishes to before he wishes to end the test in case he / she finds out that he / she has made a mistake. The candidate will be able to Bookmark questions and review them before he/she ends the test. After a candidate ends the test he/she will get his/her score instantly which shall be then uploaded to a database for further reference
6
Project Goals(contd…) The candidate will be able to review his result i.e. number of questions he/she has answered correctly, number of questions answered wrongly and number of questions un-answered. The system will print a hard copy of the result automatically after the examinee finishes with all his tasks. The Administrator will have the option to add new questions to the existing database, update existing questions and view the examinee database after logging in using a password set for the administrator. The administrator will also have the facility to view weekly, monthly and yearly reports of the performances of the examinees.
