The Immune System for Kids By, Mariah, Hailey, Inanna, Aaron, Amarom
2
Johnny felt sick and went to the doctor.
3
The doctor told him that he was sick because germs got into him.
4
He needs help from the Immune System and antibiotics to help him get better.
5
The Immune System protects the body from things that can make you sick.
6
The Immune System is made of two parts, non-specific defenses and specific defenses.
7
Non-specific defenses are things like the skin, mucus, and nose hairs which act like a wall against invaders. Nose hairs and mucus defend from dirt and germs going into your body. Skin protects the inside of your body, too.
8
When you get hurt, your body becomes inflamed to protect dangerous things from getting into the injury This invader is trying to poke the inflammation.
9
These are all parts of the specific defenses of the Immune System.
10
Antibodies find the bad guys and hold onto them to get rid of them.
11
One kind of protector is the B-cell. They make antibodies which all have their own job to guard us from getting sick.
12
Another kind of protector is the T- cell. There are 3 kinds of T-cells. Killer T-cell Helper T-cellRegulatory T-cell
13
They directly attack invaders and lead others to help.
14
Phagocytes are another kind of protector. They find germs and get rid of them by eating them.
15
Johnny’s body fought off the infection and he felt much better!
