Regional Weddings in South India South India is the motherland of people belonging to various religions, castes and communities. In fact, they even speak different languages and belong to different cultures and values. It is thus, regarded as one of the live examples of unity in diversity. This diversity is even visible in the customs and traditions of the people. For an example, South Indian weddings are celebrated with the same flavor everywhere, though their way of conduct is different. Tamil Wedding: A Tamil marriage ceremony will be held over two days and is generally an opportunity for all the near and distant relatives to come together. The Tamil community's belief in simple living is reflected in their marriage rituals too, which are holistic in nature. Pantha kal mukurtham will be held the day before marriage. The family members of Hindu Bride and Hindu Groom together pray for good fortune of the couples. The Nathaswaram and the Melam are the two musical instruments, commonly found in Tamil Nadu that plays an important role in all the Tamil marriage rituals. In particular, Marriage rituals in Tamil wedding differ from community to community. Both Tamil bride and Tamil Groom will be in silk attire.

Telugu Wedding: Telugu Marriage Rituals are generally observed by Hindu people who live in the region of Andhra Pradesh. These wedding rituals are full of rich representation with more pressure on religious conviction rather than on religion. The marriage usually takes place in any month with the exception of the months of Abashed, Bhadrapad and Shania, which are considered inauspicious for weddings. After tying the knot they will revolute the sacred fire three times and give seven pledges that they will be a good understandable couple. After every ceremony they serve food to all the guests which is also the main part of the culture of offering food to anyone who comes on an auspicious day.

Kannada Wedding: K annada weddings are the marriages conducted in the state of Karnataka. In recital, Kannada marriage resembles the traditional Hindu marriage. However, the customs and traditions observed do difference according to the region they are practiced in. As a matter of fact, there is not much difference and the rituals are simple. This provides plentiful opportunity to the families to enjoy the occasion. In a characteristic Kannada Marriage, there are pre- wedding, wedding and post-wedding rituals that are generally adhered to. In the pre-wedding rituals, there are rituals like Nandi, Nischay Tamulam, Havan, and Kaashi Yatre.

Malayalam Wedding: Like most of the other Hindu weddings, the date will be fixed earlier by horoscope matching. On the wedding day, a traditional meal is served at the groom and bride house. They will sit facing east side and have a variety of vegetarian meals which consists of four or five vegetarian dishes with payasam as dessert.The bride will be decorated with jewels, flowers and a beautiful silk sari. The girl’s family will displace a set of sandalwood powder, a holy book, a coat (a dhoti), two small pots filled with water, holy kumkum, a lamp and a bunch of 10 important flowers in big plates to show their guest their family prosperity
