Human Conscience (Romans 2:14-15) Indeed, when Gentiles (unbelievers), who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law, {15} since they show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts now accusing, now even defending them.

Our Unreliable Conscience One’s conscience can be “good” (Acts 23:1; 1 Tim. 1:5, 19) and “clear” (Acts 24:16; 1 Tim. 3:9; 2 Tim. 1:3; Heb. 13:18), but it can also be “guilty” (Heb. 10:22), “corrupted” (Titus 1:15), “weak” (1 Cor. 8:7, 10, 12), and “seared” (1 Tim. 4:2). The Bible Knowledge Commentary (Romans 2:14-15)

A God-empowered Conscience (Hebrews 9:14) How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death (keeping rules out of guilt), so that we may serve the living God! (doing what is right to please God!)

Astrology and the Bible (Isaiah 47:13) Let your astrologers come forward, those stargazers who make predictions month by month, let them save you from what is coming upon you. (2 Kings 23:5) He (righteous King Josiah) did away with the pagan priests appointed by the kings of Judah …those who burned incense to Baal, to the sun and moon, to the constellations and to all the starry hosts.

Can you trust your thoughts? (Romans 12:2a) Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. (1 Corinthians 2:15-16) The spiritual man makes judgments about all things… But we have the mind of Christ. (Hebrews 4:12) For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
