1. What is RMPS about Asking questions and discussing ideas. Thinking about the big questions of life. Exploring moral issues. Finding out about world religions and how they affect people’s lives.

2. There are three main areas of study. World Religion Involves the study of the beliefs, values, practices and traditions of one world religion. Morality & Belief. Exploring contemporary moral issues, e.g. capital punishment or euthanasia: the facts, viewpoints and your own opinions. Religious and Philosophical Questions (National 4) or Contemporary Religious Debates (National 5 ) involves exploring significant religious beliefs and issues, e.g. the existence of God or origins of life and the universe.

3. At National 5 the skills include: Describing, explaining and analysing some religious, moral and philosophical questions. Enquiring into and critically evaluating different ideas and viewpoints. Expressing views about religious, moral and philosophical issues in a reasoned manner interpreting the meaning and context of key sources. Learners will develop a wide range of important and transferable skills.
