Act 1 Words pernicious adj. destructive; deadly posterity n. future generations anguish n. extreme suffering; agony profane v. to degrade or disrespect something holy or important

Synonyms: Write each sentence and replace the bolded word with its synonym from the vocabulary words. 1. His suffering was evident in the lines and furrows of his face. 2. Our descendants will be puzzled by our failure to act in this crisis. 3. The protesters hurt their cause by using degrading language. 4. Tybalt’s reputation has been harmed by damaging rumors.

Responding to the Text Imagine that you are Tybalt and are still enraged that Romeo came to the Capulet feast uninvited. Using at least 3 of the 4 vocabulary words, write a note to your uncle urging Capulet to punish Romeo’s behavior. Write at least 5 sentences.
