Data Management Tools There is a wide variety of tools that support the collection, storage and analysis of data CategoryDescriptionExample Source SystemsSystems where data is being entered or originates (i.e. Student Information System, Assessment Software). PowerSchool QuickBooks ANet Data WarehouseA type of database that integrates data from any number of data sources. They allow for the efficient reading/retrieval and handling of large analytical queries across business lines. Google Cloud SQL QuickBase Business IntelligenceApplication for building reports and dashboards across business units and data sets (i.e. evaluating the correlation between academic growth and absenteeism of their teachers). Tableau PowerBI Data AnalysisTools used for ad hoc data requests and analysis.Excel R Stata ETLExtract, Transform, and Loading (ETL) is the means by which data can be transferred between systems. This can be done manually with exports and imports but can also be automated using system APIs. Python

Evaluation Criteria While each product category will solve different problems there is criteria that they all should meet Cost Interoperability/API access Scalability Web-based Device Accessibility (PC, Mac, Mobile) Business Priority

Weighted Evaluation Matrix Using data to select data products To better quantify this evaluation process you can use a weighted evaluation matrix to rank the products you are considering A weighted evaluation matrix allows you to assign rate products against your evaluation criteria and make some criterion more important than others. Process below: 1.Select evaluation criteria 2.Give each criterion a weight between 0 and 5 (0 = not necessary and 5 = very important/critical) 3.Rate each product on 0-5 scale (0 = worst/nonexistent and 5 = best) 4.Calculate weighted score (Rating x Criterion Weight = Weighted Score) and total score for each product. 5.Rank products by total score See example on next slide
