Current issues across the HE sector Visa changes continuing to be a problem for employment in the UK after graduation. Students returning home and equity of careers service provision - can we really be effective careers advisers to the world? How does this relate to resources? International placements/internships - resource implications of making this happen Students seem to be focusing more on work experience in the UK rather than graduate jobs Lack of effective LMI for international markets

Reality 34,895 PSW work visas approved from student transfers in 2012 Post PSW 5,596 accepted for Tier 2 (General) in 2014 379 students were granted leave under Tier 5 (Government Authorised Exchange), for professional training and internships in 2014. Statistics from Home Office and UKCISA

Recent Work Putting together responses for Parliamentary committees and consultations relating to international students and graduates. Contributions to Guardian, Phoenix and TargetJobs Presentations for external organisations including BUILA and developing links with external organisations such as UKCISA and AGR. Produced country toolkits for 20 countries for university staff to access. ‘International conferences in Birmingham and London working with UKCISA Three new members of group.

Challenges for Universities and AGCAS for the future Continuing pressures to toughen working visa legislation. What resources to prioritise. Issue of providing specialist support for international students Vs encouraging integration. Increase in external agencies providing advice to international students How to increase globalisation across UK students as well as international students.
