4. TODAY’S WEB  Web contents made of human intelligence  Used for information seeking, searching for people and products, shopping, reviewing catalogues etc  Datas are generally hidden away in HTML files

5. LIMITATIONS OF WEB SEARCH  Search results are high recall, low precision.  hard to find something if not described it with a logical search query.  Results are single web pages.

6. XML  Software for storing and transporting data  Plays important role in IT sectors  Different from HTML and other markup language

7. RDF (Resource Description Framework)  Framework for describing resources on the web  Describes properties like web event time,search engine,electronic library etc  Web information has exact meaning processed by computer

8.  Organises knowledge in conceptual spaces according to meaning  Replaces query-based search with query answering  extracting new knowledge Semantic Web & Knowledge Management

Advantages of semantic web  Engineering analysis  Data would not be lost in the servers  No need of an expensive product data management system  A varity of checklist analysis could be conducted simultaneously  Specific semantic web technology  Results in huge savings in web functions.  Example- SPARQL, a query language

10. Other advantages  searching more exact & relevant data using flexible word. E.g. products and services  online marketing through ontology base meta data description  using flexible vocabulary for annotating
