1. World Read Aloud Day World Read Aloud Day is recognized globally. The purpose of this day, February 24 th, is to give special attention to literacy by celebrating the power of words. This year, Greenwood Lake joined many other schools in honoring literacy in unique ways such as grade level team presentation and out loud partner reading. The 4th and 5th grade students especially loved the parent volunteers who came to read to the classes. A special highlight was the favorite author/book character costume contest. In the pictures you will find a creative representation of authors and characters from across multiple genres.
