Culture : the expression of beliefs, ideas, and organization that summarizes the way of life of a group. Cultural Traits : Learned expressions of behavior that reflect the characteristics of a group. Political : having to do with governing or public affairs Natural resources : something that is in or supplied by our natural environment and can be consumed or used by people

Geographic features : physical characteristics of the earth Region : area which has shared, definable characteristics. Those characteristics may be either human, physical, or both. Systems : an organized method of doing something Daily life : things that people do on a regular basis Nation : a large group of people who share common cultural characteristics

Economic : the use of resources by a society in the creation of goods and services Trade : the buying & selling of goods Alliances : two or more countries or nations that work together for a common cause. Nomadic : To move from place to place, generally with an economic purpose, without a permanent dwelling.

Settler : people who leave their home land to live in an “undeveloped” area Settlement : a community originated by new inhabitants explore : to travel over an unknown area for adventure and discovery expedition : a trip made to explore an unknown territory. colony: a group of people who settle in another land but who are still under the rule of their native land or mother country

motivation : the reason we do something Refugee : A person who flees a country or region to escape danger or persecution. Scarcity : The economic concept referring to there being more needs than resources to meet those needs. Distribute : To divide or spread out among an area or group Cash crop : crop grown to be sold

Origin : the point of beginning Slavery : a system of one person(s) owning another person(s) Slave trade : the buying and selling of slaves Demand : the quantity of a product that buyers are willing and able to purchase at a particular price and particular time

Supply : The amount of a product that sellers are willing and able to produce or sell at a particular price and time Population imbalance : when one group of people greatly outnumbers another group(s) of people in an area Plantation : a large farm which focuses on growing a cash crop usually with resident labor. Labor : 1. work – especially hard physical work. 2. a classification of people generally based on doing manual work

Period : a unit of time characterized by a certain condition or event Proprietary : something owned by a private individual or individuals Mercantilism : an economic system based on creating a favorable balance of trade for a nation through establishing colonies and controlling trade.
