May 2015 – Locally Preferred Alternative and technology selected Connect Norfolk to Virginia Beach Town Center Increase Connectivity and Mobility Options Support Virginia Beach’s Plan – New Growth, Mixed-Use Corridor What’s included: New at-grade stations at Witchduck, Kellam and Constitution, above-grade crossings over Witchduck and Independence Boulevard, All other crossings at-grade - requiring railroad crossing signals, parking garages and a walk-on station, multi-use pathway paralleling the tracks to support pedestrians and cyclists April 2016 – MOU preserving funding, outlining roles and responsibilities and allowing HRT to submit a funding application for light rail vehicles. Final decision whether to purchase cars - after possible fall light rail referendum
