New technology An ageing population Global culture Changing economy In 2000 the average UK worker had 13 jobs in their lifetime; this is forecast to increase to 19 by 2025 Over the next 10 years the demand for higher level skills will continue and 75% of all job opportunities will have a requirement of a Level 2 or above

Delivered in 7 ‘travel to learn’ areas but collaborating with Blackburn with Darwen and Blackpool Local strategy managed by Learner Entitlement Action and Delivery (LEAD) groups representing partner organisations Operational aspects managed by sub groups - curriculum, timetable, transition, quality Brings together funding from a number of sources – LSC, Aimhigher, LA, government initiatives, into a cohesive 14- 19 strategy Includes the 5 Every Child Matters outcomes

17 different subjects offered at entry level and level 1 & 2 (14-16) All Programmes delivered on agreed area curriculum Framework 12 Schools, 1HEI and & Two Training Providers are involved in delivery Students from 14 consortia schools currently on programmes offered. Current student cohort size is 374 Protocols and systems in place to support collaborative delivery and student welfare and support (Consortium Handbook) Post 16 Collaborative Curriculum currently under development By 2012 the consortium will have a fully integrated and seamless 14-19 curriculum on offer for students within this Travel To Learn Area
