2 About FTP services can run on any desired port(s) Runs as a windows service Works for all sites installed on server (web farm) Server must reach itself through the domain names (or use hosts file and setup 127.0.0.1 for its hostnames) A test application is also available (in case you don’t want to install the windows service)

3 Installing Download the EsiteFtpProxy installer from http://ikx.no/devhelp3/downloads http://ikx.no/devhelp3/downloads Configure port (open.config file in application folder) Start service Enable file service on desired user

4 Configure Important, if you don’t do this part correctly it won’t work! Open the.Config file located in the same folder as the application files (typically c:\program files\ikx\...), use notepad. –Enter public IP (The IP the app listens to incoming connections) –Enter desired port (standard FTP is 21)

5 Configure user access Enable file service access on user OR user group

6 Logging in Use a proper FTP client (not IE), windows explorer will do Enter ftp://hostname

7 Credentials User name is: [hostname]/[sitename]\[username] Password is same as in site Example Host: ftp://ikx.no Username: ikx.no/kb\richard Opens the web site http://ikx.no/kbftp://ikx.nohttp://ikx.no/kb

8 Security info Brute force protection –Login delay at 10 secs after 2 failed tries FTP does not support encryption, use VPN FTP does not support code sheets No account lock out

9 Info about test app Use this in development and for test Gives you some debug info on screen No installer

10 Using developer functions through FTP As a developer user you can open the root folder of a website through the FTP service Modify and create user controls You can access the virtual files folder to edit CSS and HTML layout code directly in any program
