Groupwork What are the advantages and disadvantages of a virtual university? Would you like to go to such a university? Why (not)?

Language Points 1.I have lots of work to do. 后置定语 eg. Do you have anything to eat? 2.If I don’t finish my project on the….,the science teacher will be angry. 在真实条件状语从句 中,用一般现在时表将来。 课文中还有: 3.Do you have anything (that is)planned for Saturday and Sunday?= Do you have any plan(s) for…? 4.It depends(on the weather). 依。。。而定 eg. --What will you do…? –It depends, I….

5.sb go camping/shopping * sb go doing sth 6.sb help sbelse with sth (to) do sth eg. We’ll help you with your homework. 7.if you like 假如你喜欢 eg. --Can I take it? –If you like. 8.thanks for the offer/help.= Thank you for the offer. Sb thank sbelse for sth/doing sth Thanks for sth/doing sth 9.sb suggest sth to sbelse( for sthelse)

eg. Did he suggest anything to the boss? *suggest vt ( 1 )建议 sb ~ sth/doing/what to do sb ~ for(to) sbelse to do sb ~(to sbelse) that 从句(用 should 虚拟语气) eg. He suggested my going home. He ~ (to me) that I (should) go home. He ~ to me to go home. ( 2 )暗示 eg. His expression ~s that he is excited. 10.sb look for sth in the library. 寻找,期待 eg. Let’s look for their arrival.

11.sb send sbelse sth sth to sbelse 12.If we had virtual reality holidays,we would not have any problems with the weather. we wouldn’t have to spend….. we would not only be able to travel…,but also…. * Second conditional: 与将来事实可能相反 Similar:If they invented virtual reality holidays, I’d go on an …. What would you like to do if someone gave you the chance?

13.what’s more:in addition 还有,更有甚者 eg. If we drink alcohol in school, we’ll be punished. What’s more, it’s bad for our health. 14.get to our holiday destinations 15.go anywhere we like. 地点状语从句 16.I feel excited (by) just thinking about it. 17.visit all the historical sites. 18.in any world famous universities(that) we wanted to. 19.I still find it hard to imagine. eg. I find reading in English difficult.

20.If they invented…..,I’d go on an around- the-world tour. 21.I’m more interested in virtual universities than virtual reality holidays. Grammar Conditionals 1.Zero Conditional:to describe rules, and situations where one event always follows the other.here If = when eg. If you freeze water, it turns to ice. If you are kind to others, they are kind to you.

If you eat a lot of chocolate, you put on weight. The Pattern:If+present Simple, Present Simple First Conditional We use the First Conditional: 1. To talk about possible future events which depend on other future events: eg. If the rain stops, the match will begin. If people don’t stop polluting the air, animals and plants will soon die. If you have time, we can go there this evening. The pattern is: If +Present Simple, will/won’t do

2.to give someone advice or an order, and make a suggestion or a request. eg. If you feel sleepy,go to bed. If she comes, phone me. If you want an interesting day out, visit the Science Museum. The pattern is: If +Present Simple, Imperative *In First and Zero Conditionals,we sometimes use the conjunction unless(=if…not)+Present Simple to talk about the present and the future. eg. He doesn’t wear a tie unless he has to.= He doesn’t wear a tie if he doesn’t have to.

I’ll fail the exam unless they postpone it. = I will fail the exam if they don’t postpone it. Second Conditional We use the Second Conditional: 1.to talk about imagined, impossible or unlikely events in the future: eg. If I became an MP(member of parliament), I would fight for animal rights.(unlikely in the future) If the sun stopped shining, plants would disappear.

2.to talk about impossible present situations: eg. If I lived closer to school, I wouldn’t have to get up so early.(the situation is impossible to fulfil(l) now) If I had more time, I wouldn’t eat fast food. The pattern is: If +past, would/could/might +do
