2. Chocolate: The Beginning The Mayans were the first recorded people to grow and drink chocolate. The Aztecs used liquid chocolate as an aphrodisiac. They also believed it was the drink of the gods.

3. Chocolate Comes to Europe  In 1528 Hernando Cortes brought back the Cocoa pod and the Mayan drink from his voyage to South America.  The chocolate drink was regarded as a luxury for the upper classes.  1847-the 1 st chocolate bar.

4. Mass Produced Chocolate YUM The Industrial Revolution saw the advent of many factory machines capable of producing thousands of chocolate bars. 1879-Cadburys opens their first chocolate factory.

5. Chocolate today  Chocolate is now available worldwide, in every supermarket, confectionary store and vending machine  Cadbury’s have different types of Dairy Milk Chocolate alone. >20% cocoa solids
