10. S EMINAR S UMMARY Changes in generation have led to a change in organizational culture, shifting some aspects of the fire service to less paramilitary operations. Changing philosophies of government in general have led to a renewed emphasis on the importance of fire service managers understanding not only fire service management, but general business management principles. Our “business” is best run in an envorinment of cooperation with all available departmental and community resources.
