4 Profile of YabaTech Yaba College of Technology (YCT) is the first Higher Educational Institution (HEI) in Nigeria founded in 1947. It is located in Yaba, Lagos. It has a student enrollment of over 16,000.

5 YabaTech’ Vision Our vision is to be the leading higher educational institution in Nigeria by providing first-rate academic, professional and entrepreneurial education to our students, who are empowered to make a positive impact in the technological and socio-economic development of the country.

7 Legal Functions of a Polytechnic (1) The functions of each polytechnic shall be- (a) to provide full-time or part-time courses of instruction and training- (i) in technology, applied science, commerce and management; and (ii) in such other fields of applied learning relevant to the needs of the development of Nigeria in the area of industrial and agricultural production and distribution and for research in the development and adaptation of techniques as the Council may from time to time determine; (b) to arrange conferences, seminars and study groups relative to the fields of learning specified in paragraph (a) of this subsection (1); (c) to perform such other functions as in the opinion of the Council may serve to promote the objectives of the polytechnic (Federal Polytechnic Act)

18 Interrelationship of Schools, Departments & Service Units Systems Theory studies the symbiotic and mutually-reinforcing relationship between the whole (the main system) and its constituent units (the sub- systems).

20 Interrelationship of Schools, Departments & Service Units Schools are the coordinating offices for implementing the vision and mission of YCT. They ensure the departments under them discharge their mandates (teaching, learning, research & accountability). They get the required “professional, financial and technical support services” from the Service Units. Accountability = responsibility + openness; + answerability
