23rd APRIL CHILDREN’S DAY On 23rd April 1920 Turkish Grand National Assembly was opened. That day was given as a gift to the children by Atatürk.

23rd April and this week are celebrated as children’s days. Also, on this week International Children’s Festival is celebrated.

The children from all over the world are invited to this festival. The children display their countries’ folk dances and the sense of friendship and peace are shared.

19th May is given as a gift to the youth, and it is celebrated by young people.

30th August Victory day. The day that all the occupying powers are defeated and the freedom is gained.

29th October, Republic Day is celebrated.On this day Turkish Republic was founded.

I t is celebrated by everyone in the country. Everywhere is adorned with Turkish flags.

Ramadan Feast: Muslims fast for a month to obey the rule of Allah.(the God)In this month everyone knows the value of the Allah’s blessing. Everyone invites the poors and relatives to the dinner. After a month lasting fast, the Ramadan Feast is celebrated. It begins with the Feast Pray in the mosques.

Muslims celebrate these happy days by visiting their relatives and poor people. Our religion says that everyone should be reconciled with each other on these days and shouldn’t bear a grudge.Since Islam religion is an affection religion, it doesn’t accept anger, hatred and other bad qualities.

On these days children and young people kiss old people’s hands to show their affection and respect to the old.

To the guests that come to celebrate this feast, sweets and baklava(Turkish dessert with walnut and pistachio) are offered.

SACRIFICE FEAST: The sacrifice means “to be closer to Allah(God)” in The Koran( our holy book).The animals such as cow, camel and sheep are killed as a sacrifice.
