Planning in Penn State In Penn State, and most colleges and universities in America, the last semester of college is spent “student teaching”. Candidates take no classes, and only teach in an assigned school for 10 – 14 weeks. At Penn State students typically teach in Central Pennsylvania, in areas surrounding the university, Philadelphia, or Pittsburg.

Prior Experience Second year: - Observe teachers in an area school for 60 hours! - Spring 2010 Fourth year: - Taught in an area school for 6 weeks - Fall 2011

Planning in Penn State Since there are a lot of requirements for a teaching degree, studying abroad is very difficult for an education student. I have no ties to Philadelphia or Pittsburg, Central is hard to attain. Learned about teaching abroad opportunity and immediately knew I had to take advantage of it.

Applying The deadline to apply for student teaching was 31 January 2011. While the girls I lived with applied for Central, I applied to come to Norway. Wait to be interviewed.
