9 Rollercoaster Project This project is designed to teach you about applications of KE, PEg, and the Conservation of ME. You will build a “working” rollercoaster with at least 3 “features” to it. “Working” means that a marble/car will successfully travel along the entire course of the coaster under it’s own energy when released from a starting position A “feature” may be: a hill or initial drop, a loop (sideways or vertical), a corkscrew (sideways or vertical), or a jump. If you want to include a different item in your track as one of your 3 “features”, you must get it approved through me first. After building the coaster you will calculate your “car’s” (may be a marble or ball bearing) ME (KE + PEg) at the highest point(s) of each of your 3 features and the end point. Calculate your “car’s” speed at the bottom of the biggest drop Assume no friction is present and therefore ME is conserved
