1 WELCOME!!!! Mrs. DuBray & Mr. Robinson

2 Daily Schedule We are on a six day cycle Students either start with Mrs. DuBray or Mr. Robinson 3 days a week we switch @ 8:45 others @ 10:10  This allows us to see the students at different times of day.  This helps maximize peak learning times for all subjects.

3 Walk to Read Some procedures vary depending on the structure of the groups level. For any specific Walk to Read questions be sure to contact your child’s Walk to Read teacher.

4 Math Majority of work is done in class Tests are given as needed –  Usually one every 1 ½ - 2 weeks Normally expect something small for homework  Usually class work that wasn’t finished  Workbook page to reinforce class work  Should not take longer than 20 minutes Think Central

5 Social Studies Almost all work is done in class Unit test is given – about one per month Homework:  Usually only to complete study guide or workbook page  Newspapers went home yesterday. Your child has one week to complete the crossword and the multiple choice worksheet.  Should not take longer than 20 minutes Pearson Success Net

6 Language Arts & Classical Roots/Vocabulary New lesson on Monday Vocabulary quiz given on Friday Homework  Monday ~Exercise A; study  Tuesday ~ Exercise B; study  Wednesday ~Exercise C; study  Thursday Complete all remaining exercises; study Grammar quizzes given as needed ELA homework will consist of Classical Roots, Grammar, and/or Writing written in the ELA block.

7 Writing Most rough drafts will be started in class and completed at home Teacher will conference once on all formal writing assignments Final compositions will be typed in computer lab or will sometimes be required to be typed at home (due to time constraints) Writing notebook & folder  ALL writing is to remain in one, or the other

8 Science Students complete almost all class work assignments as a group Most instruction is done activity or lab based Students take notes in their science notebook- this is where majority of quiz information comes from

9 Classroom Management Teachers will use Class Dojo Not following rules will result in silent lunch, recess detention, or referral

10 Homework Policy Even if homework is completed in school it should still be written in agendas, and it should still be checked It is expected to be completed daily Extra copies of homework will not be given. Zeros can be made up but only for partial credit. Students are responsible for carefully packing their bags and bringing home their materials for homework  If they are missing something they should get it from the teacher before leaving school Missing homework assignments can result in silent lunch/recess detention

11 Friday Folders Friday folders will go home every two weeks. Please review all the work in the folder with your child. If a child has a failing test grade(below a 70) they can correct the test for points back up to a 70. Please return any signed failing papers for math and social studies, and the stapled packet for Mr. Robinson.

12 AR Students are required to earn 6 points every 3 weeks for a total of 18 points per nine weeks with an 80% average. Consequences for not earning points on goal date:  Letter home (in planner/Friday folder)  Fun Friday spent in Reading room.

13 Textbooks Online Student’s have in the front of their homework planner the website and login information to access the Math/Reading & Social Studies textbooks from home. IXL passwords are also in the front of the planner and this is an excellent review for math skills.
