VIRTUAL MACHINE (VM) What is a VM? – A virtual machine (VM) is a software implementation of a computing environment in which an operating system (OS) or program can be installed and run. What is host OS? – A host operating system (OS) is the original OS installed on a computer. VMWARE SNAPSHOT A snapshot preserves the state and data of a virtual machine at a specific point in time. – The state includes the virtual machine’s power state (for example, powered-on, powered-off, suspended). – The data includes all of the files that make up the virtual machine.
