2
What is the difference between active transport and passive transport?
3
In active transport, a cell must use energy in order to allow materials into or out of the cell. Usually his is from an area of lower concentration to higher concentration. In passive transport (diffusion), materials pass from areas of higher concentration to lower concentration without using energy.
4
IS the process shown using active transport or passive transport? How do you know?
5
The process shown is diffusion. It is a form of passive transport. You know because ATP is NOT being used to move the solute.
6
What process is being shown?
7
This is Osmosis. The water is moving from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration.
8
What process is being shown? How do you know?
9
The process shown is active transport. You know that it is active transport because ATP (energy) is being used.
10
In which type of solution would a cell shrink? Swell?
11
In a hypertonic solution cells will shrink. In a hypotonic solution, cells swell.
12
What is photosynthesis?
13
Photosynthesis is the process by which plants make their own food. Photosynthesis is also responsible for producing over 90% of the Oxygen in our atmosphere.
