Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

5. “Church of Christ” on the sign doesn’t make it so. Philippians 3:17 Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern. 1 Corinthians 4:17 For this reason I have sent Timothy to you, who is my beloved and faithful son in the Lord, who will remind you of my ways in Christ, as I teach everywhere in every church.

10. Don’t follow the pattern for organization Perversion – The Sponsoring Church One congregation taking money from numerous congregations to fund preachers in other places. Often take “oversight” of the mission work. o Make determinations for the congregations who are served by the preachers they support.

Paul took money directly from congregations to continue his work!

Don’t follow the pattern for the work of the church Perversion – The Social Gospel Kitchens, gymnasiums, fellowship halls, church softball teams and leagues, church camps paid for with the Lord’s money Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

16. What about a kitchen? We have authority to meet. (Heb. 10:25) The logical conclusion to be drawn is that we need a place to meet. Pews, water fountains, restrooms – expedients to fulfill the command to meet. 1 Corinthians 11:20-22

Don’t follow the pattern for the work of the church Perversion – Unlimited Benevolence Try to use James 1:27 - Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world. Look at the context – read 1:21-27 Try to use Galatians 6:10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. What about the context? Read v. 1-10

Acts 5:1-4
