1 THE PINTA TRIAL EMILY MARTINEZ & XENIA RENTERIA

2 INTRODUCTION  The Pinta Trail was a new pathway that helped the Forty ~ Niners get to the California gold fields. This trail was also used by the Spanish settlers and German Immigrants for traveling to the north.

3 WHY SHOULD THIS TRAIL BE CONSIDERED FOR RECOGNITION AS A NATIONAL HISTORIC TRAIL?  In 1757 the Pinta Trail was founded by German Immagrants.. The Pinta Trail became known as the Upper Immigrants Trail used by the Forty ~ Niners on their way to California gold fields and Fort Martin Scott was their guardian.It was known as a trail to travel to help connect the people to the north.

4 HOW DID THE TRAIL IMPACT SOCIETY?  The trail helped society by giving it a new gateway to the northern German settlements. The natives used the Pinta Trail to get from San Antonio to points west. The Spanish also used this trail to reach Santa Fe in the 19 th century. Forty ~ Niners used this trail on their way to California gold fields and Fort Martin Scott was their guardian.

5 WHAT FACTORS CONTRIBUTED TO THE PINTA TRAIL’S SUCCESS OR DEMISE?  The Pinta Trail was successful because it was a safe trail that succeeded on taking the immigrants to travel safely to the north, south, and to point west (California). The Forty ~ Niners that traveled to point west became successful because they were able to find gold nuggets in bed streams and became rich and wealthy.

6 WHAT POLITICAL, ECONOMIC, RELIGIOUS, ENVIRONMENTAL, OR SOCIOCULTURAL PERSPECTIVES INFLUENCED AND / OR MOTIVATED INDIVIDUALS TO TRAVEL THE PINTA TRAIL ?  Forty Niners were motivated to use this trail to get to California to find gold. Others such as German Immigrants and many Spanish settlers used this trail to travel to the north.
