NIST Established by Congress in 1901 as the National Bureau of Standards Became the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in 1988 NIST is a non-regulatory federal agency within the U.S. Department of Commerce 4

NIST’s Mission To promote U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness by advancing measurement science, standards, and technology in ways that enhance economic security and improve our quality of life. NIST carries out its mission through several programs including the NIST Laboratories. 6 Standards Coordination Office (SCO) SCO provides standards and conformity assessment expertise and services in support of government and industry Coordinates government standards and conformity assessment activities, as well as coordinating with the private sector Provides policy and technical guidance on standardization and conformity assessment for Federal agencies Equip US industry with standards- related tools and information necessary to effectively compete in the global marketplace

TechStreet TechStreet Online database of over 400,000 industry codes and standards aggregated from 350 of the world's leading Standards Developing Organizations SAI Global Standards Infobase SAI Global Standards Infobase Provides access to over 1 million world- wide engineering standards and specifications, current and historical. Registration (which is free) is required to search the database. Document Center Inc. Access to over 750,000 documents, sells standards and provides monitoring, auditing, and updating services.

ICSP Established by OMB Circular A-119 NIST Chairs and is the Secretariat Consists of representatives of Federal Agencies, EOP organizations and Independent Agencies Meets quarterly Active working group on Conformity Assessment Works to keep abreast of changes and exchange ideas on issues of standards policy and its implementation as guided by the NTTAA and A-119. Annual standards report is prepared and submitted to OMB on implementation of A-119 and the NTTAA. See Standards.gov for agency Standards Executives, annual reports and charter.

NSTC SoS: National Science and Technology Council, Committee on Technology, Subcommittee on Standards 24

NSTC SoS - Falls under the oversight of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) Chaired by NIST Established in 2010, renewed in 2012, sunsets unless otherwise renewed in 2016. Members include Federal agencies, independent agencies and EOP organizations Purpose is to address how Federal agencies can more effectively use standards and standards-related solutions to strengthen U.S. innovation and competitiveness, particularly in areas of National Priority.
