1- TRIBAL KEY POINTS: Keeps decision- making local Emphasizes clan/kinship ties Often rejects of modern government

2 - THEOCRACY KEY POINTS: Religious leaders claim to act on behalf of God to run the government Religious leaders’ decisions outweigh those made by elected officials There’s no separation of church (religion) and state (government).

3 - DEMOCRACY KEY POINTS: The government’s power comes from the people In a Direct Democracy citizens decide on government issues directly by voting In a Representative Democracy citizens elect representatives to decide on government issues

4 - MONARCHY KEY POINTS: Rule by one person who inherited the job from their parents Citizens hold no power in an absolute monarchy The monarch usually holds only symbolic power in a constitutional monarchy

5 - DICTATORSHIP KEY POINTS: Ruled by one person (or political party) Power is usually taken by force Citizens have no rights
