Pedestrian Protection Enhanced crosswalk lighting system e.g., LED(light-emitting diode) Safe pedestrian walkway Cycle time adjustment of traffic signal for the weak in traffic (children, the aged) : 0.8m/s by walk Zone30 local roads in residential and school areas, limit the speed to be less than 30km/h
16
Improvement Road Condition Increase in retroreflectivity of Road Markings from current standards for the visibility in rainy day or at night (present: 130 mcd/m2Lux, cf. US: 250 mcd/m2Lux) Location adjustment of traffic light on crossroad Improvement & expansion of road safety inspection system and safety guards

Trauma care system Prehospital Field triage by EMT : documentation for severe injury Fast and professional transport : Doctor heli Hospital Specialized hospital care : trauma center Community Injury surveillance for QI and monitor ROAD SAFETY
19
Field triage system by EMT Modified the CDC field triage scheme If the patient is suspected of getting severe injuries by this scheme, EMT have to transport to proper hospital within 10 min by protocol If ground transportation will be expected to take over 10 minute, EMT can request the helicopter.
20
Immediate EMS transportation system Doctor Heli Boarded by doctor and nurse(or EMT) with emergency medical rescue equipment Enables the medical team to begin its emergency treatment on-site and during the transportation to a nearby medical facility 4 helicopters (Incheon, Jeounnam, Gangwon, Gyeongbuk)
21
Trauma Center Provide immediate medical care for MAJOR TRAUMA PATIENTS at any time Comprehensive full capacity trauma centers 17 centers designated as a level 1 trauma centers Establish 60 beds(20 intensive care, 40 general) and 2 operating rooms by centers Goal : 24/7 surgery and care for trauma patients
22
Injury surveillance system(KCDC is leading) 1. Korean National Hospital Discharge Survey Survey of injury for sampled 9% discharge patients from 170 sample hospitals 2. ED-Based Injury in-depth surveillance Survey of injury type and risk factors for all the injury patients visiting 20 hospitals
23
1. EMS-assessed severs casualty incidents The survey of patient with abnormal field RTS It contains outcome of these patients including disability by medical record review. Pan-Asian Trauma Outcome Study (PATOS) an international registry program for trauma It has begun with participation of several Asian country, Korea, Singapore, Japan, Taiwan and so on. PATOS will be an useful program of development the agenda for injury prevention and trauma care improvement. In aspect of road traffic accident, PATOS will be an important role to make an international collaboration
24
Setup of National Injury Surveillance System Setup of the Road Traffic Injury Monitoring system and Continuous Monitoring – evaluation of intervention Integration of Injury Surveillance System Action of Preventable Program Host-Agent-Environment Pre-Event-Post Legislation enforcement Education and advocacy Safe walk and driving First aid for trauma patient : call 119, keep safety
