6 Reading Harcourt Reading Series… Reading stories are grouped thematically into clusters or anthologies Typically one story is covered per week Vocabulary words are given weekly Instruction occurs in large group settings and small ability groups

13 Spelling Preview new list every Monday Nightly homework doesn’t need to be turned in. Every Thursday night, practice test for homework Tests given Friday, sent home on Monday Challenge words are available weekly.

15 Eureka Math *Lessons divided into 4 parts* #1 Fluency: 3 Goals of Fluency are: 1. Maintenance (staying sharp on previously learned skills). 2. Preparation (targeted practice for the current lesson). 3. Anticipation (skills that ensure that students will be ready for the in-depth work of upcoming lessons ). #2 Concept Development Introduces the new concept with exciting hands on activities. #3 Application Problems Students will be given 10 minutes to work on the daily problem set. It is not an expectation that children finish the problem sets. #4 Exit Tickets/ Debrief Exit tickets will be completed each day. These will be graded and sent home in a packet on Mondays. Exit tickets are used to monitor students’ strengths and needs

19 Homework  Math Pages assigned daily in agenda book Set timer for 10 minutes/ at least 1 word problem Books must be brought back and forth each day  Fluency New Fluency passage sent home on Mondays Follow Directions on the letter that was sent home  Spelling Choose an activity from the list to perform nightly Doesn’t need to be returned to school Practice Spelling test on Thursday nights  Reading  Students should read or be read to for at least 15 minutes nightly
