STEP 3: Brainstorm While serving on a committee to decide on Zion-Benton’s school mascot, I would declare that a new mascot is a necessity. While many believe that Zion-Benton’s mascot is too timid, it is my belief that the Zee-Bee is a fearless representation of ZBTHS. If on a committee to determine the school mascot at Zion-Benton, I would oppose any changes. While many believe that Zion-Benton’s mascot is too timid, it is my belief that the Zee-Bee is a fearless representation of ZBTHS. Adversaries such as warriors, devils, and bulldogs are all school mascots that evoke fear into the hearts of their opponents. Unfortunately, a bee does not traditionally seem like a formidable opponent, and many students feel that this mascot cannot be taken seriously. This reality becomes clear when one realizes that the Zee-Bee originated with World War II war heroes; the mascot can be used in dozens of captivating cheers; and groups of hornets, or “killer bees,” are a deathly threat to any opponent. While other schools may have mascots that appear to more outwardly ferocious, the Zee-Bee possesses a long history of spirit and strength. After highlighting the fearless courage of the Seabees, the penetrating force of Zee-Bee cheers, and the fatality that hornets bring, it is my belief that while many believe that Zion-Benton’s mascot is laughable, the “Fighting Zee-Bee” is a fearless representation of ZBTHS. For decades students have dedicated themselves to fighting for the Zion-Benton Zee-Bees. To change the mascot would inevitably erase countless moments in history for the fighting bee. S T A C
