A Mutation is any change in DNA A mutation can change the phenotype and fitness of an organism Fitness – an organisms ability to survive and reproduce. Genetic Variation

Mutations Sex cell mutation – occur in sex cells (gametes), don’t affect organism but can be passed on. Somatic mutation – occur in body cells, skin cancer and leukemia, not passed on. Lethal mutation – cause death usually before birth
