2  Colleges will look at ACT and SAT score.  Tests are very different. › Aptitude vs. Achievement › Some do better on one over the other  Everyone will have to ACT plus writing because it is Day 1 of MME › This is an official ACT test. MME is a graduation requirement.  Colleges like to see all scores › Compare your sub scores

3  In addition to MME day 1, you can take ACT in February, April or June › You must register online at www.act.orgwww.act.org  55% chance to improve your score if you retest  Data shows after 2 tests to improve your score you need to study, take class, etc. SAT test register at www.collegeboard.com www.collegeboard.com

5  A good plan is to have a list of 3-6 schools that you are interested in attending  Reach schools  Good matches  Safety schools  You need to know where you want to apply by September next year.  Even if you are thinking community college you could still check out OCC or MCC  Let’s look at www.collegeboard.com & www.careercruising.comwww.collegeboard.com www.careercruising.com

7  Questions to ask yourself. › 1. What three things do you like about your high school? (things you want to keep) › 2. What three things about my high school do I never want to see again? (within reason) › 3. What three clubs, programs or classes should your high school offer that aren’t offered › 4. What three parts of your hometown do I like and well-not like? › What three things would you like to do that you haven’t done before?  Bottom line: What qualities are you looking for in school

9  Make sure you are aware of each schools application deadline and what type admissions policy.  You really should have applications in by October 31 st.  Many times the college’s scholarship
