Fail Safes Set point = 0 Overrides the PID controller Record Max/Min Pressure Alert user of potential errors Mass Balance Software Zero Monitor total mass Shut down pressure and flow, no flooding balance Maximum Pressure If exceeded, set pressure to zero
3
Hardware Progress Syringe pump Removal of Large Power supply Implemented much smaller, more portable solution Updated circuitry components Allows for greater precision for PID and feedback control Since receiving connectors, we’ve begun container designs/layouts
7
Pulsatility Working on updating pump control panel to take a series of flow rates and time intervals File input or manual input Convert flow RPM automatically based on tubing selection
8
Pulsatility Need to determine approach for moving forward: Main limitation currently is pulsation frequency Ideas Matching Reynold’s number (alter viscosity) to accommodate slowness Add additional hardware (digitally controlled valve, other) to improve pulse frequency (temporal offset relative to pump) Observe pressure wave with additional pump heads
9
Looking Forward Try to get laptop working Allow us to run a true hydraulic permeability setup Working on pulsatile flow Ordering a container box To allow for portability of hardware interface Creating graphical user interface hardware select menu Syringe pump control? Battery powered surge protector? Allow for continued usage when power goes out momentarily
