What is Rohypnol? Rohypnol is the brand name for a drug called Flunitrazepam, which is a powerful sedative that depresses the central nervous system. Rohypnol is not legally available for prescription in the United States, but is legal in 60 countries worldwide for treatment of insomnia.

Long-Term Effects Rohypnol is lethal when combined with alcohol or other drugs. It can slow the pulse and breathing, leading to unconsciousness, slowed heart rate, suppressed breathing and, ultimately, death. Rohypnol can produce physical and psychological dependence.Risk of becoming addicted increases with the dose used and with duration of use. Users with a history of alcohol or drug abuse are at greater risk for dependence.
