Strategic Planning Council’s Charge Strategic planning is the responsibility of a college’s president. Dr. Kleniewski created the Strategic Planning Council to facilitate the development and implementation of each generation of this college’s strategic plans. The Council consists of faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members soliciting broad feed back from all campus constituencies. VISION: SUNY Oneonta will be recognized as a leader in challenging and empowering students to identify and achieve ambitious goals. We will ensure a quality and affordable education emphasizing ethical, critical, and creative thinking for our graduates to succeed in a diverse and changing world. Three-Year Plan beginning Fall 2015 Four Goals 1.INCREASE STUDENTS’ ENGAGEMENT THROUGHOUT THEIR COLLEGIATE EXPERIENCE 2.PROMOTE INQUIRY, SERVICE, AND SCHOLARSHIP 3.BROADEN ACCESS TO SUNY ONEONTA’S EXCEPTIONAL AND AFFORDABLE EDUCATION PROGRAMS 4.STRENGTHEN THE COLLEGE’S FINANCIAL STABILITY Five Objectives per goal Action Plan STRATEGIC PLAN 2015: SCHOLARSHIP, SERVICE, STRENGTH

GOAL 1: INCREASE STUDENTS’ ENGAGEMENT THROUGHOUT THEIR COLLEGIATE EXPERIENCE Highlights from first year… Task force charged to develop a “Degree of Distinction” completed a draft and forwarded it to the Committee on Instruction who is currently working with many groups on campus and plans to bring a proposal to Senate in the fall. The formalization of a Faculty Center was approved by the College Senate. The creation of two Living and Learning Communities (Sustainability & Social Justice) New Student Orientation was revamped. Highlights from first year… “After Oneonta” Webpage created to highlight accomplishments of recent graduates New tools implemented to publicize and celebrate accomplishments of current students Pilot program to incentivize faculty led research was approved GOAL 2: PROMOTE INQUIRY, SERVICE, AND SCHOLARSHIP STRATEGIC PLAN 2015: SCHOLARSHIP, SERVICE, STRENGTH

Highlights from first year… Created Access to College Education (ACE) Program for first generation students Gathered data and developed reports to illuminate achievement gaps Chief Enrollment Management Officer position created to actively address sustainable enrollment plan Making Cents after College student financial literacy campaign launched Implemented Environment for Living, Learning and Working Campus Climate Survey Open Forums to share these results are tomorrow (April 19 th ) 12-1:30 p.m. and 4-5 p.m. in Morris Conference Center GOAL 3: BROADEN ACCESS TO SUNY ONEONTA’S EXCEPTIONAL AND AFFORDABLE EDUCATION PROGRAMS STRATEGIC PLAN 2015: SCHOLARSHIP, SERVICE, STRENGTH

Highlights from the first year… Two new undergraduate programs were approved locally and submitted for SUNY approval Health and Fitness Environmental Sustainability Two graduate programs were expanded Cooperstown Graduate Program – enrollment doubled Dietetics Program – new track added Annual operating surplus increased from 6% to 7.4% GOAL 4: STRENGTHEN THE COLLEGE’S FINANCIAL STABILITY STRATEGIC PLAN 2015: SCHOLARSHIP, SERVICE, STRENGTH
