Ambition over Adversity by Tupac Shakur
Take one's adversity Learn from their misfortune Learn from their pain Believe in something Believe in yourself Turn adversity into ambition Now blossom into wealth

I Cry by Tupac Shakur Sometimes when I'm alone I Cry, Cause I am on my own. The tears I cry are bitter and warm. They flow with life but take no form I Cry because my heart is torn. I find it difficult to carry on. If I had an ear to confiding, I would cry among my treasured friend, but who do you know that stops that long, to help another carry on. The world moves fast and it would rather pass by. Then to stop and see what makes one cry, so painful and sad. And sometimes… I Cry and no one cares about why.

What the difference between the poems?

Sound Effects in Poetry

What is poetry? Poetry is a kind of rhythmic, compressed language that uses figures of speech and imagery to appeal to emotion and imagination. Written in lines (a row of words not necessarily sentences) and stanzas (a group of lines).

End Rhyme Rhymes made by pairing the last word in one line with the last word in another line. Example: Did you hear about the rose that grew from a crack in the concrete? Proving nature’s law is wrong, it learned to walk without having feet. Underline the two words that rhyme.

Internal Rhyme Two or more words rhyme within the same line
Example: The cat sat on the mat. Underline the words that rhyme.

Rhyme Scheme The pattern of rhyming sounds at the ends of lines in a poem. To find a poem’s rhyme scheme, mark the first line of the poem and all of the lines that rhyme with it with a a; mark the second line of the poem and all of the lines that rhyme with it with a b; and so on.

Rhyme Scheme Example Now the Star-belly Sneetches
Had bellies with stars The Plain-belly Sneetches Had none upon thars. What is the rhyme scheme?

Repetition The use of any element of language (sound, word(s), etc.) more than once. Example: And out of the houses the rats came tumbling; Great rats, small rats, lean rats, brawny rats, Brown rats, black rats, gray rats, tawny rats, Underline the word that is being repeated.

Alliteration The repetition of a single consonant sound in words that are close together. Example: Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers Underline the consonant sound that is being repeated.

Rhythm Rhythm: The beat created by the pattern of stressed and unstressed syllables Example: Jack and Jill went up the hill

Onomatopoeia The use of a word whose sound imitates or suggests its meaning. Example: Our washing machine went whisity whirr Whisity whisity whisity whirr One day at noon it went whisity click Whisity whisity whisity click click grr click grr click grr click Call the repairman Fix it…quick Underline the onomatopoeia.
