….need your help

Grandview is the only CTC in Durham Region and the only outpatient paediatric rehabilitation centre serving this region. Built to service 400 children in 1983, the Centre now serves 5,000 children and youth and their families each year. The needs include a range of physical, developmental and communication special needs. Who we are!
3
Grandview helps children and youth and their families – some to walk, some to talk and all to achieve their personal best. We’ve hear over and over from parents that “Grandview changes lives”. More importantly!
4
Our Kids are… Children and youth with special needs and their families We serve the age range from birth to 19 years Children who receive critical specialized services and supports have a wide variety of need. One of the most significant needs is communication support requiring a Speech and Language Pathologist.
5
Grandview’s main facility is in Oshawa with satellite sites in Ajax, Whitby, Port Perry, Greenbank and The children and youth on caseload are from all over Durham Region. Every month we complete over 3,500 appointments with our kids. Where are we?
6
These children are your friends’ children, your neighbours’ children, your children These are Durham’s children - OUR KIDS and they need your help!
7
The Foundation was established in 1995 to inspire community awareness and raise funds. Now almost 20 years later, this mandate has not changed and our goal continues to be to raise community awareness and funds by encouraging community support, advocacy, education and research about Grandview Kids.
8
Community support matters: Close to 2,000 children with special needs and disabilities are on a wait list, simply because resources are limited. Every year, demand for critical therapy services rise, waiting lists grow and the children waiting fall further behind.
9
Consider this… Some children wait a few weeks while others wait over one year for therapy. The population of Durham Region is growing. There is a high percentage of children aged 0-19 in Durham Region and this is growing.

Making a Difference Together With your support, we will make a difference to these children and give them a chance to achieve their personal best. We are seeking support for Specialized Speech Assessments and Programming. Each $5,000 dollar donation will serve 27 kids to receive an assessment, full assessment report, modelling session and a home program.

Donor dollars helped give Jacob a voice: Jacob at 6 stunned his mother with an eloquent story about the tiger to a complete stranger at the zoo. What is even more compelling is that Jacob has a severe speech challenge. Having been a client of Grandview since he was 2 1/2 years old, Jacob has made great strides. Once worried about Jacob being bullied by his peers, his parents feel quite confident that Jacob will be safe with his peers as he has come a far way in his speech. He feels safe at Grandview and this allows him the opportunity to build his confidence.

Donor dollars helped Owen to walk: Weighing 4lbs 2oz at birth, Owen has been a fighter from the beginning. Facing challenges like fluctuating metabolical levels, kidney failure, “water on the brain”, seizures and blue spells, Owen has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy. That has not slowed him down. With the help of his therapy team, Owen has met most milestones. So much so that last October Owen did the 5k marathon representing the Smash’n Pumpkins with his walker. Owen’s determination and strength made him an inspiration to us all. His photo crossing the finish line went viral worldwide, earning him the awe of a nation.
