Reed - sriii2000@aol.com Using Media Literacy to Explore Democratic Practices Google and Democracy - Having students explore the role media technologies play in democratic forums and commercial enterprises will lead them to understand the effect Goggle has in our global place of ideas and commodities. Face Book and Free Speech – Many of my students have MySpace or Face Book pages. However, it is critical that students understand their rights and responsibilities when using media technologies. Cyber Rights and Risks – Many of my students are increasingly using media technologies to shape their identities and expand their social networks. However, this creates the risk of polarizing students who already attend racially and economically isolated schools.
