2. The Human Species growth  The numbers of the population growth are concerning. They show the increase in populations throughout the years the population is increasing in less and less time. It took 300,000 years to reach one billion people but it only took 130 years to add another billion people. The population is increasing rapidly in less time only 10 years to get to seven billion. It shows that now, each time the years that it takes to add another billion people is decreasing by about 2 years each time another billion people are added. That is concerning, because we are already seeing shortage’s in non-renewable resources and areas beginning to become over populated. For example: China, is facing over population and the issues that they are facing from over population are things like – intense smog, over crowded, poverty from not enough jobs, food and water shortages. I am concerned because those numbers showing how fast the populations are increasing and I worry about the rest of the world becoming over populated. It is debated a lot about how many people the earth can support. The more people, the more our resources are used. I think that if populations keep rising as fast as they are, we are going to run out of space and we are going to run out of nonrenewable resources which we need to survive. 3. Population Spike  The population has been spiking since the industrial revolution. The Industrial revolution transformed manufacturing which in turn benefited a lot of processing in resources that aided in better survival. Around 1960, there was better medicine, better healthcare, etc. With better healthcare, and antibiotics, people are living much longer in the pre-industrial stage a humans life expectancy was 30-40 years. Today humans are expected to live 70-80 years. Birth rates have increased as well so with an increasing birth rate but a declining death rate, the population continues to get larger and larger.

4. Local Population Growth  For my local population growth, I chose to research Canada. I chose to research Canada because it is where I live so I should educate myself on the population growth that’s happening right around me. In 1900 Canada had a population of only 5,310,000. Canada’s population has now risen to 35,851.8 in 2015 and is predicted to rise to about 36,540,000 by the end of 2016 with our growth rate of about 1.2%. Canada’s population continues to increase mainly because of Migratory Increase which currently is the reason for about two thirds of Canada’s growth. Canada has some social and economic implications, things like health system pressures, labor supply concerns, intergenerational relationships and social and private income security programs. There is a projected $70 billion increase for the cost of health in the next 20 years our workforce is aging at an increasing rate and a shrinking net worth for young Canadians. Canada sees the most growth from poor and middle class because we bring in so many immigrants and refugees that don’t have much to offer in terms of education and job skills so it is very hard for them to get a job they are qualified for. I think population growth for Canada is good, with certain conditions. The population growth should be naturally, not because we have brought thousands of people over into Canada. Local Environmental Impacts  In 1900 Canada created the Commission of Conservation which helped conserve the environment because it made it so forestry was regulated more and you were no longer able to clear cut as well as introducing organic fertilizers as an alternative as well as recycling. Canada’s green house gas emissions grew from 1990-2014 because of mining and oil and gas production and vehicle traffic (agriculture, cars) which means Canada could face global warming issues which could affect the way Canadians live as well as Canada’s economy. We are expected to see a large increase in temperatures and less moisture, drought like and throughout the prairies that will seriously effect the agriculture production. This is a big part of Canadas Economy. On top of that our population is increasing really fast which means there is even more pollution and usage of our resources our great lake which is the source of clean drinking water for over 8 million Canadians is running out. With the increased population, means increased pollution which means we risk ruining what the earth has to offer from over population, pollution and over use. In 1900 Canada
