The island of Mauritius in Indian Ocean is chosen, because: – Good data availability, clear boundaries! – A first illustrative study available The policy questions: from a fixed area of crop land, should sugar-cane be processed into ethanol instead of sugar? Should the area be expanded? What are the implications? – What are the implications on the CLEWs? Scenario analyses quantifying the resources (CLEWs) and the economic implications of this policy under different conditions (technological and others)
