HOW DOES A PERSON BECOME A CITIZEN? Natural-born Citizen Born in the 50 states, U.S. territories or an overseas military base If either of the parents are American citizens If a baby is born abroad (but has American parents) they are citizens of the country they are born in and the United states. This is called dual citizenship

Naturalized citizen Naturalization is the process in which a non-citizen becomes an American citizen There are 5 requirements Sign a Declaration of Intent Live in the U.S. for at least 5 years 3 years if you are married to a U.S. citizens Application and Interview Read, Write and Speak English Citizenship Exam Basic knowledge of U.S. history and geography Take oath of allegiance and swear to obey the Constitution HOW DOES A PERSON BECOME A CITIZEN?
