11 Left click right click Double click: click the left mouse button twice in rapid succession. Mouse pointer: arrow or hand that tells you where your actions will take place on the screen. (p.109) To click or not to click? One left click is enough for many programs, internet links, etc. Two quick left clicks are usually reserved for opening files, programs, etc. on your desktop.

12 The mouse should be on a clean hard place and easily moved by dragging it. Mouse pads are a good idea. If it starts acting strange, use a can of air to blow out the dust from the bottom of the mouse. A couple blasts of air is all that is needed. If it is wireless, check the batteries, too.

20 Start Menu I’m using Windows 7. Going to your Control Panel: 1.Go to the Start Menu and click on the flag. 2.Click on Control Panel. All Programs lists everything on your computer. Search box will help you find documents, programs, etc. by name. Shut down button-> correct way to shut your computer down.

21 If it looks like this, click on the words Control Panel in the address bar.

22 Menu bar Maximize Address bar Minimize Close box Click on Uninstall a program to permanently delete a program. Be careful what you delete!

23 Wait for the programs to use, then click on the one you want to uninstall. Once you click on the program, the word Uninstall will appear up here. Click on Uninstall. The computer will ask you if you are sure. Click on Yes if you want to permanently delete the program.

24 To get back to the main Control Panel page, click on Control Panel in the address bar.

26 This box has all the available backgrounds. To scroll down to see more, put your mouse arrow on this bar, hold down your left click button, and drag the mouse towards you. Or click this little upside down triangle.

31 You don’t have to go to the Control Panel. Just RIGHT click a blank spot on the desktop. Then LEFT click on Personalize.

32 When you are done, click on the X to exit the control panel.

33 First, you have to have the picture already saved on your computer some where. (We will cover this in day 3.) Then RIGHT click the picture. When you see this box or something similar, LEFT click on Set as desktop Background and wait.
