Main research areas Plantwide control / Control structure selection –Optimal operation –Optimal selection of controlled variables (CVs), actuators and sensors –Controllability analysis –Design of regulatory layer –Bottleneck optimization and inventory control Intensified unit operations –Divided wall columns Petlyuk (3-product): 30% saving in capital and energy Kaibel (4-product). 40-50% saving in capital and energy –Have pilot scale column Reactive distillation in divided wall columns (new) Cooperation with SINTEF Automatic control (Dr. Ivar Halvorsen) Operation in unstable and new operating regimes –Stabilization of multiphase flow (anti slug control) –New applications, including integrated columns
