Peasants Homes Peasants Homes Peasants made their own homes in the middle ages. Peasant families lived in one or two rooms in a small house. Food and Drink Food and Drink Foods and drinks were very different in the middle ages then they are today. Instead of juice children drank alcohol! Since they didn’t have grocery stores peasants had to kill animals for meat. Peasants grew wheat on the farm to make bread. Peasants made food usually made food out of fruits and vegetables. Farmland Farmland We don’t have to grow food on a farm any more because we have grocery stores. Some crops grew in the winter such as rye. The village was surrounded by fields. Each field on the farm was cut into narrow strips. Rye was sometimes used for eating. Some vegetables that peasants grew were peas, barley and green beans. Clothing Clothing Most of the clothes peasants bought was very cheap. Since they didn’t have helmets they wore straw hats to protect. Peasants wore a cheap badge for good luck with a woolen jacket. THE END THE END Out of all the information I gave you, you can see a peasants live was not easy. They had to do whatever they could do to survive. I would not like to be a peasant We are very lucky now to have the freedom that we have now.
