How to diagnosis an injury 1. Assess the situation!!! (Check your surrounding area) 2. Check for heart rate 3. Breathing- Brain damage occurs after 7-10 minutes without oxygen 4. Check for bleeding and broken bones Do not move a person who appears to have broken bones. This could cause serious damage to the person.

Electrical Shock If a person has experienced an electrical shock be sure that all electricity has been turned off before administering first aid.

Eye Injuries When something gets into your eyes flush with cold water. Rubbing and trying to get it out can cause more harm. General rule of thumb is to flush the eye for 15 to 20 minutes.

Fainting & Shock When a person is in shock or feeling faint, have them lie down or be seated, to avoid injury from falling.

Clothes on Fire If clothes are on fire, smother the flame immediately with a blanket or by rolling on the ground. Best and fastest method to put out a fire. Prevents rapid spread of flames

Burns If you receive a burn the best first aid procedure is continued flushing with cool water over the burn area for an extended period of time. Any other treatment may cause further injury.

Stay Calm If an injury takes place you need to keep calm so you might be able to provide assistance to the person injured. By staying calm yourself you help calm the injured person

Seizures In case of a seizure, protect the person from injuring themselves by establishing a barrier around the person.

Types of Burns First Degree – Surface of skin reddish in color, tender, skin not broken. Second Degree – Skin severely damaged, blisters or skin broken Third Degree – Skin and tissue below skin are white or charred.

Protective Clothing in the shop: Safety Glasses Closed Toes Shoes Coveralls or Long Pants No Lose Clothing Long Hair Tied Back Clothes made out of artificial materials can be a fire danger.

Fire Triangle We have all been taught the three sides of the fire triangle for a fire to start and continuously burn. Break one side of the triangle and the fire can be extinguished.
